The project
Overview
Newton Fox delivered a 3-year campaign for a large regional education provider, supporting the promotion of apprenticeships and wider employer-engagement activity. Our role was to connect learners and local businesses, book events, and generate a steady flow of employer partnerships that would translate into apprenticeship starts and long-term relationships.
Working as an extension of the client’s internal team, we focused on booking events for learners, contacting local employers to introduce apprenticeship opportunities, and maintaining regular contact so the provider became the “go to” training partner in the area. This proactive outreach generated significant additional revenue and strengthened the organisation’s presence within the regional business community.

The brief
The client wanted to raise the profile and uptake of apprenticeships among both young people and adult learners, while deepening their relationships with local employers. Specifically, Newton Fox was asked to:
- Engage local businesses and introduce relevant apprenticeship programmes
- Book careers events, employer visits and recruitment sessions across the region
- Promote apprenticeship pathways to prospective learners of different ages and backgrounds
- Build and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with employers to support repeat opportunities
- Increase awareness of funded apprenticeship options across multiple sectors
- Support the internal employer-engagement team by generating warm, qualified leads
- Ensure every employer received clear, simple guidance on apprenticeship benefits, costs and processes
- Deliver consistent, professional outreach over a 3-year period to maintain a strong pipeline
- Provide detailed reporting on conversations, booked events, lead quality and campaign impact
- Drive additional revenue through increased apprenticeship enrolments
Our approach
We deployed a dedicated Newton Fox team focused solely on apprenticeship and employer-engagement activity. They were trained on the client’s programme offer, funding rules, eligibility criteria and the typical objections or misconceptions employers have around apprenticeships.
Calling activity was structured around two key audiences: employers and learners. For employers, we prioritised discovery conversations to understand their business, skills gaps, previous experience with apprenticeships and appetite for future recruitment. Where interest was confirmed, we booked follow-up meetings, events or recruitment sessions with the client’s internal team.
On the learner side, we supported the promotion of events, information sessions and recruitment days, ensuring good attendance and a steady flow of candidates for available apprenticeship opportunities.
Throughout the campaign, we provided clear, consistent reporting. This included volumes of employer conversations, quality and stage of each lead, events booked, sectors showing the strongest interest, and the overall impact on apprenticeship recruitment.
The Results
Over the three years, the campaign delivered consistent, scalable performance and a sustained uplift in apprenticeship activity:
- The team consistently generated 10+ qualified apprenticeship leads per agent per day, ensuring a reliable flow of warm employers and suitable candidates.
- Learner and employer engagement rose significantly, driving ongoing improvements in apprenticeship sign-up rates and employer participation month-on-month.
- The client’s employer-engagement performance strengthened, with high-value partnerships created across multiple industry sectors.
- Average apprenticeship value improved as more effective discovery and employer-needs analysis led to better-matched opportunities.
- Several high-potential employer clusters were identified and developed, supporting long-term apprenticeship growth beyond the initial brief.
- After the initial ramp-up period, introduction, qualification and event-booking targets were exceeded every month.
By the end of the campaign, the client had a stronger regional profile, a healthier apprenticeship pipeline and a more predictable flow of engaged employers and motivated learners – underpinned by a proven, outsourced outreach model delivered by Newton Fox.
